Food

A lot of people know that we eat a lot! And because we eat a lot and have very little time to spend on making gourmet food everyday, we make things in mass. Usually we cook in batches so that at least ONE day we could have a little bit of free time without having to cook. Usually it doesn't work. And usually it's also so that after a rough leg day we HAVE to go shopping coz we have nothing left, which means we have a lot of stuff to carry.. And to top it off, we get home and there's nothing to eat and we're already starving :)

That was the so-called worst-case-scenario, but it actually happens maybe once a month.

Usually when we cook, we make around 1,5 kg of minced meat and around the same amount of chicken per day. Depending on the sort of vegetables we eat we either make salad or boil vegetables every second day.. And occasionally we make something a little out of the ordinary from our usual meal.

I can tell you that after eating chicken and minced meat in all sorts of different styles and makes, it starts getting boring. And coming up with a new recipe that wouldn't require much oil or sugars or carbs in general is challenging. Using spices has saved many a meal, but it can only take you so far. Even spices start becoming ordinary no matter how exotic they may have seemed at first.

But, so far so good, we've managed to come up with a new recipe when we've started getting sick of the used one. This recent recipe isn't maybe the most low-carb of them all, but all in all it's good enough for us for now because we're not trying to get into competition shape.

The chicken in this picture has been dipped in a little bit of chicken wing sauce (enough to get the coating to stick to the surface, so, not much), then coated with a mixture of sesame seeds, rye flour and couscous, seasoned with salt and paprika powder. The oven pre-heated to 170 degrees Celsius and put in the oven for 20-45 minutes depending on the amount and thickness of the chicken.
It gets a nice crispy coat and keeps the chicken moist inside, if you don't leave it for too long in the oven.
Total time taken to prepare this kind of chicken is the amount of time it needs to be in the oven + 5-10 minutes for the marinading, mixture making and dipping. So less than an hour in total.

On the same plate, there are some noodles, boiled vegetables and eggs. The meal of a champion right after the day's workout :)

Today was my favorite training day, the leg day... but my shins and ankles hurt from walking in different shoes at work a couple of days ago, so I left out the calves for this week. It was a hamstring-oriented day, so I did 4 exercises for the hamstrings and then worked the butt, and since I have some time left I did abs. And by the time training was done, my legs were shaking and it felt very nice trying to walk up and down the stairs. Felt like I was going to fall walking down the stairs.
